Stronger Together

Sessions are always strengths based. I will guide you every step of the way as we implement various methods to help you develop new attitudes towards the situations that brought you in to see us.

Where Are You Now

Feeling a bit down lately and nothing seems to lift your spirits? It might be time to seek help. In my sessions, I help you develop positive attitudes towards life’s most complex and challenging circumstances. We can do this in a variety of ways. Whichever way we go, I'm meeting you where YOU are. You're in the driver's seat.

Getting There Together

In sessions, we’ll work to solve current problems and improve positive thinking and behavior. I will help you “re-frame” your reactions and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles. I have an eclectic approach to how I'll help you get there.

How We Do What We Do & Our Approach

We work within an eclectic framework, using multiple models of therapy and interventions, sometimes more than one at a time. We will use methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy.

We approach treatment with a trauma informed lens. In short, that means that our approach assumes that most people have experienced at least some sort of traumatic event, having some effect on the presentation of your symptoms.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a common type of talk therapy (psychotherapy). You work with a mental health counselor (psychotherapist or therapist) in a structured way. CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.

Motivational Interviewing

MI is an evidence based treatment modality where your therapist helps you to increase your own motivation to change and resolve any ambivalence if you feel stuck.

Person Centered

Person Centered therapy is an approach & technique that is a little less structured and allows you to formulate your own solutions. Your therapist does this through genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and empathy.

Humanistic Approach

VeryWellMind & SimplyPsychology (and other sources) define Humanism as an approach that "stresses the importance of human values and dignity. It proposes that people can resolve problems through the use of science and reason. Rather than looking to religious traditions, humanism instead focuses on helping people live well, achieve personal growth, and make the world a better place...The humanistic approach emphasizes the personal worth of the individual, the centrality of human values, and the creative, active nature of human beings. The approach is optimistic and focuses on the noble human capacity to overcome hardship, pain and despair."
